"A pizza da Julia Roberts" --- "The Julia Roberts' pizza"



My "Eat, Pray, Love" moment in Naples

Na ultima terca- feira completei um mes a bordo do Soberano e pra marcar a data fui comer pizza em Napoles, na tradicional pizzaria Da Michelle. Quando eu estava no Escape o Diogo ja havia me falado sobre o lugar, tinha a indicacao num guia que tenho, mas ultimamente o local esta famoso por causa do filme Comer, rezar e amar. A cena em que a personagem de Julia Roberts come pizza foi gravada la. Apesar da simplicidade do local tive de esperar com a Beatriz por mais de meia hora com senha na mao ate que chamassem nosso numero. Somente dois sabores de pizza sao servidos: Marguerita e Marinara, numa massa muito fina que segundo o site conserva a mesma receita de 1870. A pizza e assada em forno a lenha e todo o preparo acontece ali na sua frente.

Last Tuesday I completed one month aboard the Sovereign and to mark the date I went to eat pizza in Naples, in the traditional pizzeria Da Michelle. When I was in Escape Diogo had already told me about the place, I also had it indicated in my travel book but lately the place is famous because the movie Eat, pray, love. The scene where the character of Julia Roberts eats pizza it was filmed in there. Despite the simplicity of the place I had to expected outside with Beatriz for more than half an hour with password in hand until they called our number. Only two flavors of pizza are served: Marinara and Margherita, a very thin dough that according to the site retains the same recipe from 1870. The pizza in baked in wood oven and all the preparation takes place in front of us.

Alem da espera ainda dividimos a mesa com um casal europeu: ele espanhol e ela italiana. Assim como na tradicao brasileira o rapaz quis levar uma pizza pra viagem, o que deixou a moca indignada, pois para os italianos pizza e massa devem ser comidas imediatamente após o preparo. Acabamos conversando sobre outras coisas e foi bem legal ter sentado na mesa com eles. A ideia inicial era pedirmos uma pizza de cada para dividirmos, mas a Beatriz acabou gostando mais da pizza dele e eu na minha gulodisse nao me saciei com a Marinara e pedi mais uma com queijo duplo. Confesso que metade da segundo disco ja estava satisfeito, mas o sabor estava tao bom que so me dei por contente quando viuns pedacinhos da borda no prato. Acho que somente sao servidos refrigerantes, cerveja e agua e cada pizza custa apenas cinco euros, e com a foto da Julia Roberts la, a sensacao e de estar no meio do filme.
Besides the waiting further we divide the table with a European couple: he was from Spain and she was Italian. As in the Brazilian tradition the guy wanted an pizza for take away which left the girl indignantly, according to her the Italian pizza and pasta should be eaten immediately after preparation. We ended up talking about other things and it was very cool to have sitting at the table with them. The initial idea was to ask one of each a pizza so we could share but Beatrice prefered her Margherita pizza and I do not felt ok with my Marinara so I ordered another Margherita with double with cheese. I confess that with half of the second disc I was already satisfied but the flavor was so good that I just stop when there was just the crumbs. I think it is served only soft drinks, beer and water and each pizza only costs five euros. Having the picture of Julia Roberts we the feel like being in the middle of the film.

Esse foi um dia bem legal, pois apesar de ja conhecer a rota desde o meu primeiro local ainda encontrei algo diferente pra fazer. E o engracado é eu ja havia passado varias vezes na esquina do local e nunca havia me dado conta. Na rota do Soberano ainda nao consegui descer na Tunia, o unico porto que ainda nao conheco e espero fazer isso em breve. Posso dizer que temos quatro dias de trabalho bem puxado, seguidos de tres dias em que a escala de trabalho é mais suave:

That was a pretty cool day because despite I already know this route since my first contract I still found something different to do. Sabado: Barcelona, Spain (dia de embarque, é sempre corrido em todos os navios, as vezes tem entrega de mercadorias e nem toda semana consigo descer e quando consigo na volta temos exercicio de emergencia para passageiros e logo em seguida comemos e temos de trabalhar.
Saturday: Barcelona, ​​Spain; embarkation day is always busy time on all ships, sometimes we have delivery of goods so is not every week that I can go out and when we get back, there is passengers' drill and and after we eat and than we have to work .

Domingo: Navegacao, dia longo geralmente comecamos as 9:30 da manha e seguimos ate a meia noite e meia (horario em que fechamos as lojas todos os dias). O nosso intervalo geral é de tres horas, divididas duarnte o dia entre almoco, horario de descanso e mudar o uniforme para o noturno e jantar. A maioria dos tripulantes a bordo trabalha muito nesse dia, mas para nos das lojas é um dia de longas horas em pé e que atendemos muitas pessoas.

Sunday: sea day, usually a long day we start at 9:30 am until half past midnight (daily shops closing time). In total we usually have three hours break, divided in lunch, resting time and changing for night uniform and dinner. Most crew members work hard on that day, but in the shops is a day of long hours stand on the feet and serving many people.

2a feira: La Goulette, Tunisia é quase um dia de navegacao, pois a gente tem de acordar por volta de 10 horas para o exercicio de emergencia semanal para tripulantes, e aqui na Pullmantur varios oficiais sempre passam fazendo perguntas sobre os procedimentos e logico que temos de saber ou enfrentar treinentos extras e as vezes ate advertencias. O exercicio dura em media uma hora e termina por volta de meio dia. E o tempo de voltar pra cabine e tomar banho, por que a gente fica uma parte do exercicio nas areas externas do navio em pleno forte calor da Tunia (alguem nos contou que nessa semana, um dia antes de estarmos la a temperatura chegou a 50 graus). Em seguida almocamos, da tempo de tirar um rapido cochilo e como o navio sai bem cedo do porto, trabalhamos desde as 14:00 horas, com meia hora de intervalo para a janta e saimos por volta de 1:00 da manha. Somente uma vez por mes o exercicio semanal e feito em Livorno.

Monday: La Goulette, Tunis is almost a sea day, because we have to wake up around 10 am for the weekly crew drill, and here in Pullmantur several officers are always asking questions about the procedures and of course that we need to know otherwise we have to face extras trainnings and sometimes even warnings. The exercise lasts around one hour and ends around noon. At this time we need to take a shower in our cabin because part of the drill is in open areas of the ship and Tunez is a very hot place (someone told us this week a day before we dock there the temperature reached 50 degrees). After lunch wehave time to take a quick nap and as the ship leaves the port early, we start to work at 2pm, with half hour break for dinner and we just finish around 1:00 am. Only once a month the crew drill take place in Livorno.

3a feira: Napoles, Italia para nos da loja é o grande dia de descanso, pois comecamos a trabalhar somente por volta das 20:00 horas e podemos ficar fora do navio ate as 19:00.

Tuesday: Naples, Italy for the gift shop staff is the great day of rest, because we started to work only at around 8pm and we can get off the ship until 7pm.

4a feira: Civitavecchia, Italia: outro dia calmo, onde a maioria dos passageiros vai pra Roma e navio fica com pouca gente a bordo. Quase toda semana tem tido excursao para tripulantes para um parque aquatico local, eu na minha preguica nao fui em nenhuma ate agora. Estou nesse porto hoje e nao pude dormir ate tarde porque temos que estar fora da cabine as 10:30 quando acontece a inspecao semanal das nossas cabines. Tenho aproveitado pra usar bastante internet nesse dia. Na loja comecamos a trabalhar somente as 19:00 horas.

Wednesday: Civitavecchia, Italy: Another quiet day, where most passengers go to Rome and there is just a few people on board. Almost every week there is crew excursion to the local aqua park, I in the top of my laziness had been in any of it so far. I'm in this port today and I could not sleep until late because we have to be outside our rooms at 10:30 am when we have weekly cabin inspection. I really enjoy using the Internet at this port. We start working only at 7pm.

5a feira: Livorno, Italia: o ultimo dia calmo da semana, pois na loja comecamos a trabalhar de novo somente as 19:00 horas. 

Thursday: Livorno, Italy: the last calm day of the week because again we start working only at 7pm.


6a feira: Villefranche, França, ja comeca a correria novamente. O ponto positivo é que geralmente da pra dormir ate um pouco mais tarde, porque apesar do navio sair cedo do porto (as 15:00) comecamos as 14:00 e geralmente nao tem nada extra nesse dia. Pra sairmos nesse porto e necessario pegar uma lancha do navio ate o porto e eu prefiro descansar, portanto ainda nao pisei na Franca nesse contrato.

Friday 6th: Villefranche, France, the busy time starts again. The positive point is that usually the we can sleep until a little later, because even though the ship leave the harbor early (3pm) we started at 2pm and usually do not have anything extra at this day. To get out on this port we need to catch a boat to the harbor from the ship and I prefer to sleep, so I had not yet stepped in France on this contract.

 

Barcelona: Las Ramblas del Mar

Vale ressaltar que a nossa escala de trabalho pode ser alterada a qualquer ponto, na minha segunda semana eu nao pude sair do navio nenhum dia, pois comecavamos a trabalhar bem cedo, com as lojas ainda fechadas, pra fazer o inventario de mercadorias. E muitas vezes temos treinos mensais especificos para as nossas funcoes de emergencia. Por exemplo eu tive um semana passada em Civitavecchia as 10:30 e devo ter outro na semana que vem nesse mesmo porto e horario.

It is worth to remember that our work schedule can be changed at any point in my second week I could not get off the ship any day as we started working very early, with shops closed, to make an inventory of goods. And we often have specific montly training for our emergency duties. For example I had some a last week in Civitavecchia at 10:30am and I will have another next week at the same port and time.

Realmente é uma rotina puxada e muitas vezes cansativa e os salarios ja foram mais atrativos no passado, mas ainda é legal poder dar uma relaxada em cidades europeias. Me sinto mais adaptado a rotina do navio e a galera daqui, mas ainda sinto saudades do contrato passado e por enquanto ainda acho o Imperatriaz um navio mais legal. Ha uns dez dias atras tive minha primeira festa de tripulantes aqui e me diverti bastante, a unica coisa chata foi que me chamaram pra tocar como "Dj" e no ultimo momento o responsavel da festa mudou de ideia, e ele mesmo tocou na festa, o recado da alteracao de ultima hora me foi passado por uma outra garota e ate hoje o cidadao nao falou comigo a respeito, alias nunca nos falamos mais. Realmente parece engracado, uma bobeira, mas vale ressaltar que num local pequeno e fechado alguns acontecimentos ganham maior intesidade.

It really is a routine and often pulled tiring and the salary have already been more attractive in the past but it's still nice to take a relaxing break in European cities. I feel more suited to routine of the ship and with the guys here but I still miss my last contract and for the time I still think the Empress is a coolest ship. There are about ten days ago I had my first crew party on here and I enjoyed a lot, the only annoying thing was that I was invited to play as "DJ" and at the last moment the party organizer changed his mind, and he played at the party, the message of the last minute amendment was passed to me by another girl and until today the "citizen" had even not talked to me about, in fact we never talked anymore. It really looks funny, silly one, but it is noteworthy that in a small and closed place some events gain greater intensity.

Bem galera fico por aqui com muitas saudades da familia, amigos, comida da minha mae e televisao brasileira (sei pouco do Brasil nas Olimpiadas porque no navio vejo mais a BBC News que da maior enfoque para as conquistas britanicas e quando cortei meu cabelo em Napoles vi jogo de volley e lutas de esgrima com atletas italianos.)

Well folks here I go, missing a lot my family, friends, mom's food and Brazilian television (I know little of Brazil in the Olympics because the on the ship I usually watch BBC News that has the main focus on the British games and when I had my hair cut in Naples I saw a volleyball game and fencing fights with Italian athletes).
