civil war

Oi povo...

Hi people ...

I'm in another brief stop in Ilha Bela, so the ship went to Santos and got it back. I'm learning that in a place with so many cultural differences any differently word or act can start a "civil war" on board. Sometimes is very complicated to manage these not declared but it is there.

Work is getting crazy and some people are already thinking about quitting. As for the mood I'm fine, because I concentrate on the discoveries of new people and their different ways of being and acting. Besides, today is a beautiful day, unlike yesterday it rained a lot in Buzios and it encourages a little more.

I'm discovering new dumb questions made by passengers (some I already knew before get onboard) so I decide to follow the "MAD style" and create some silly answers:

passenger: "Do you live here?"
crewmember: "No ma'am, I have to take two buses and a subway to get home every day!"

Well more than ever "time is money" and gotta go ... kisses and see you soon!

minha nova casa --- my new home

ISLAND ESCAPE

Oi povo, blz?
Hi people, are you ok?

Well since yesterday this is my new home over the next seven months. I was hired as a waiter at Island Scape. Most of you know how I always desired to do it. Now It worked! My parents helped a lot “Thank you”! They were important in several ways, including financially

Embark on a ship requires training, documents, lots of medical examinations and be able to speak English. I believe that most of you want to know about the life onboard, so here I go: yesterday was the day to acclimatize, to meet people, find out the "ways", to know the leaders, get a lot of instructions, and to get in touch with all the English accents on board: Philipino, Latin, Eastern European , Indian and Brazilian. There are crewmembers from other nationalities but these are dominant.

The work is hard, but I believe is not impossible to be done, especially having my salary on U.S. dollars. But it is very tiring especially now in beginning as the body is not accustomed to physical effort and because of the brokered schedules. Another difficulty is to get a lot of information about my job and about how to behave on board, all in one "of these types of English" spoken on board there is some very strange accent.

Reach the places on board is another challenge, actually I’m doing well for a new joiner: I’m being able to get quickly to my cabin, to the crew mess and to the tiny crew gym. My cabin is also very small but other crewmembers said that I got a good one; I have another three cool Brazilians as my room mates.

I have to go because I just came out of the ship very quickly here in Buzios to use the internet (on board is really expensive) and to call home.
Got to get back to work in some of the onboard restaurants at dinner service.

Beijos para todos!

Kisses for everyone!
